History
John and Roula Kosmadakis hail from one of the small villages of Chania City on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Crete. Before establishing John’s Fish Market, John and Roula ran the fish and chip shop across the road from The Beehive. Their shop became a popular spot in that busy political neighbourhood and they served many prominent and well-known customers.


John launched John’s Fish Market in 1997. His son, George, eventually joined the company, and Roula arrived with her fish and chip expertise.
In 2006 John and Roula decided to retire and handed over the business to their children, Vana and George, and a business partner, who continued selecting the finest fish, smoking the fish, crafting home-cooked delicacies, taking orders and cooking up delicious takeaways.

Vana is a wonderful cook (her Greek cakes are second to none!), very knowledgeable and makes sure everything runs smoothly. George is Mr Personality keeping everyone happy and ordering the freshest fish available. Retirement lasted about a week for matriarch and workaholic Roula and her expertise at the fish and chip counter is invaluable. 


Wholesale

Wholesale supply a wide range of businesses from restaurants, bars, cafes, clubs, caterers, and of course, fish and chip shops. 
Earlier this year the family left the business temporarily but now that the business partner has gone and we have returned with a new business name but happily trading as John's Fish Market.

Fresh Fish & Fish & Chips 
Our fish and chip shop and fresh fish retail are in an awesome location on Petone's Esplanade, just across the road from the sea. We can watch the fishermen hauling in the nets for us! We cook up a range of special homemade Greek and Kiwi goodies (Roula's secret recipe meat patties are super popular) and in summer customers love eating their fish and chips over at the beach on a specially designed deck with views across the harbour.

Today 
Sadly, John has passed on to the biggest golf course in the sky but the family continues his legacy and traditions with top quality service and fresh products that John's Fish Market is renowned for.
